Intro
Pitchy is a French SaaS company that provides an innovative online video editing solution. Pitchy enables businesses to create professional-quality videos without any technical skills. The platform offers a wide range of customizable templates designed by professional motion designers, making it easy for users to produce videos for various purposes, such as internal communication, marketing, training, and more. Pitchy’s tools include features like automated subtitle generation, advanced personalization, animated texts, and AI-powered content generation for videos.
Initial Consultation and Scope
Pitchy initially contacted me to enhance their platform's security by implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP). After successfully delivering this feature, Pitchy decided to continue our collaboration on a regular basis, leading to the development of several additional features to further improve their platform.
Development and Collaboration
During my time working with Pitchy, they asked me to develop various features and implement fixes, such as:
MFA Implementation: I designed the MFA flow and developed it using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and Node.js. I also modified the front-end with React to incorporate this feature. While the back-office security was significantly enhanced, the adoption of MFA by general users was limited.
Branding Interface: Following the MFA project, Pitchy requested an interface to allow users to access pre-made branding options, including colors and fonts, directly while creating videos. I developed this feature to facilitate consistent branding across all video content.
Text Customization: Pitchy then asked me to improve the text customization capabilities. The existing tool allowed only basic text changes, so I created a WYSIWYG editor enabling users to customize text character by character. This included different colors, background colors, and opacities. I also developed a custom parser for this functionality, which was well-received by Pitchy’s clients.
Animated Texts: To add modern motion effects, I worked on integrating animated texts using Lottie animations. This involved a feasibility study and dealing with complex differences in position systems between Lottie and the video player. After several months of development, we successfully implemented this feature, greatly enhancing the platform’s visual appeal.
Platform Debugging: Throughout the collaboration, I also participated in debugging various aspects of the platform, ensuring smooth functionality and improving overall user experience.
Rebranding: Pitchy also tasked me with rebranding the entire app. This involved updating the visual design to align with their new brand identity. The rebranding included redesigning the user interface with new color schemes, fonts, and visual elements to provide a fresh and cohesive look across the platform.
Client Impact and Reflection
Each feature was developed and shipped to production independently, allowing for iterative improvements and timely delivery. The enhancements made the platform more secure, versatile, and user-friendly. Clients appreciated the new functionalities, particularly the advanced text customization and animated text features. The rebranding effort gave the platform a modern and cohesive visual identity, further enhancing user satisfaction.

Working with Pitchy provided an opportunity to tackle a variety of technical challenges, from security enhancements to UI/UX improvements and a complete rebranding. Each feature was developed with a focus on client needs, resulting in a more robust and attractive platform. This experience highlighted my ability to deliver comprehensive and effective solutions, enhancing the overall value of Pitchy's offerings.
